Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has expressed his desire to become the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Speaking recently on a podcast, Tamim said he would be willing to take on the top administrative role in Bangladesh cricket if the opportunity arises.

Tamim was expected to contest the BCB presidential election in the last board election. However, he withdrew from the race, alleging government interference in the process. A significant number of Dhaka-based club organizers also boycotted the election alongside him.

Ahead of the 2023 Cricket World Cup, Tamim initially announced his retirement from international cricket but later reversed the decision and returned to play one ODI match for the national team. However, due to various complications, he was ultimately left out of the World Cup squad.

Although he has not been active in international cricket since then, the star opener has remained involved in club cricket and organizational roles.

During a recent appearance on the “Samirskan” podcast, Tamim was asked whether he would like to become BCB president in the future. Responding to the question, he said, “If the opportunity comes, definitely.”

Tamim also stated that he believes he has the capability to take on such responsibility, noting that many people within the cricketing community are aware of his work and involvement.

According to him, genuine intention and purpose matter more than experience or age. He pointed out that many experienced administrators have run the board for years, yet Bangladesh cricket has not always progressed as expected. Tamim suggested that people could consider trusting new and less experienced leadership for a change.
