Voters will not be allowed to carry mobile phones inside polling stations during the 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum, according to an official notice issued by the Election Commission. The notification was released on Sunday.

The notice stated that mobile phones are prohibited within a 400-yard radius of polling stations. As a result, ordinary voters must leave their phones outside before entering the voting area.

However, the Election Commission clarified that three categories of individuals will be permitted to carry mobile phones inside polling stations. These include the Presiding Officer, the Officer-in-Charge of police assigned to the polling station, and two members of the Ansar or Village Defence Party (VDP) responsible for election security who will be using the “Election Security 2026” mobile application.

Voting for the 13th National Parliamentary Election will be held on Thursday, 12 February. Balloting will take place without interruption from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This year, there are more than 42,000 polling centers across all 64 districts, with approximately 250,000 polling booths nationwide.

Voting will be conducted in 299 out of 300 parliamentary constituencies on 12 February. Polling in the Sherpur-3 constituency has been suspended due to the death of a candidate. A total of 51 political parties registered with the Election Commission are participating in this election.
