The investigation into Sheikh Hasina and several others is nearly complete: Chief Prosecutor.

Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam has informed the International Crimes Tribunal that the investigation into the crimes against humanity involving Sheikh Hasina and several other accused individuals is nearing completion.

On Tuesday (February 18), he made this statement when the three-member tribunal, led by Chairman Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Mojumdar, directed that the investigation be completed by April 20.

Tajul Islam stated that the investigation into the crimes against humanity involving Sheikh Hasina and several other accused is almost finished.

A new report from the United Nations will be included and submitted alongside it. Earlier, the tribunal had instructed that the investigation report against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina regarding the allegations of crimes against humanity in the July-August genocide case be completed by April 20.

This directive was issued by the three-member tribunal under the leadership of Chairman Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Mojumdar.

The court issued this directive in response to a time application from the prosecution.

Additional Chief Prosecutor Mizanul Islam represented the prosecution during the hearing.

On December 17 of last year, the tribunal ordered that the investigation into two cases of crimes against humanity related to the July-August genocide involving Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and 46 others be completed within two months.

The trial at the International Crimes Tribunal is ongoing against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and others accused of being the instigators and planners of the genocide during the student movement against discrimination in July and August.

The Awami League government carried out indiscriminate killings to suppress the student and public movement.

Nearly one and a half thousand people lost their lives during that movement.
