The Inner Wheel Club of Sylhet Heritage (District 345) organized a tree plantation programme to promote a greener environment and help maintain ecological balance.
The programme was held on Wednesday (July 29) at Sylhet Inclusive School and College.
As part of the initiative, club members, along with students of the institution, planted a small flower garden on one side of the campus and fruit-bearing and medicinal tree saplings on the other. The event aimed to encourage environmental awareness and foster a sense of responsibility among students toward nature.
Following the plantation programme, Club President Jannatul Ferdous officially welcomed Executive Committee Member Noorjahan Akter by presenting her with the club pin.
Among those present were Charter President Jannatul Ferdous, Vice President-2 Nipa Monir, Secretary Shakila Bobby, Executive Committee Members Sumi Begum and Noorjahan Akter, General Member Syeda Humayra Jahan Shampa, Assistant Teachers Mohammad Ashraful Islam and Ruhul Amin Russell of Sylhet Inclusive School and College.
After the tree plantation, club members held an interactive discussion with students on the importance of trees and the proper care of newly planted saplings.
Speakers highlighted the vital role trees play in preserving ecological balance and sustaining human life. They explained how trees have long served as humanity's closest companions by providing shade, fruits, flowers, and life-saving oxygen. Students were also encouraged to water the plants regularly and take responsibility for their care.
