Police have arrested Khalekul Islam Pilot, 26, president of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Pirab Union unit, in connection with a case involving attacks on the anti-discrimination student movement, vandalism, and the alleged use of cocktails and other acts of sabotage in Shibganj.
He was sent to Bogura jail through the court on Tuesday (August 25). Police had arrested him at around 7:30pm on Monday from Sihali Hat in Pirab Bandar of the upazila.
Khalekul Islam Pilot is the president of the Pirab Union unit of Chhatra League and the son of Nur Islam of the Pirab area.
Shibganj Police Station Sub-Inspector Hossain Ali said Pilot was arrested from Sihali Hat based on confidential information. He said the investigation had found him to be an accused in the case.
“He was shown arrested in the case filed over attacks on the anti-discrimination student movement, vandalism, the throwing of cocktails and other acts of sabotage, and was subsequently sent to court,” the police official said.
