Following a similar operation in Sylhet, authorities have launched an operation against sleeper coaches in Sunamganj, collecting Tk 210,000 in fines.
The RAB media wing disclosed the information on Sunday (August 23), saying a mobile court of the Sunamganj district administration conducted the operation at Mallikpur Bus Stand in Sunamganj Sadar at around 7pm on Saturday. RAB-9 assisted the operation.
During the drive, Bengal Paribahan was fined Tk 50,000, while Saint Martin Souhardya Paribahan and Shyamoli Paribahan were each fined Tk 30,000. Euro Coach Paribahan was fined Tk 100,000.
RAB media officer and Assistant Superintendent of Police KM Shahidul Islam Sohag said such drives would continue in the public interest.
