The Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAB) has announced Hajj packages for 2027 and urged prospective pilgrims to complete all Hajj-related procedures only through government-approved private Hajj agencies to avoid fraud.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the HAB Sylhet Regional Office on Wednesday (July 29) at 5:00 p.m. The written statement was presented by Muhammad Abdul Qadir, Secretary of HAB Sylhet Region.
He said pre-registration for the 2027 Hajj began on July 27 and will continue until September 24, 2026. Prospective pilgrims must first deposit Tk 30,000 for pre-registration, followed by Tk 350,000 for initial registration. The remaining package cost must be paid by December 10, 2026, to complete final registration.
HAB leaders noted that nearly 96 percent of Bangladeshi pilgrims perform Hajj under private management. Therefore, they urged intending pilgrims to use only government-approved and licensed Hajj agencies for all registration and travel arrangements.
They also warned that several unauthorized and unlicensed organizations are advertising attractive Hajj packages through social media and other platforms to mislead the public. Many of these entities lack valid Hajj licenses or government approval. HAB advised pilgrims to verify an agency's license before booking and to make payments only through the official bank accounts of licensed Hajj agencies.
During the press conference, HAB announced three special Hajj packages for pilgrims from the Sylhet region. The first package is priced at Tk 895,000, the second at Tk 795,000, and the third at Tk 675,000. All three packages include the cost of Qurbani (Adahi).
According to HAB, Saudi Arabian regulations require each Hajj agency to meet a minimum quota of 2,000 pilgrims to operate. To meet this requirement, 23 approved Hajj agencies in Sylhet have formed the Sylhet Alliance, which will manage Hajj operations for 2027.
Pilgrims booking through any agency under the Sylhet Alliance will be able to travel directly from Sylhet to Jeddah or Madinah and return directly to Sylhet.
Responding to questions from journalists, HAB leaders said pilgrims booking through Sylhet Alliance agencies are unlikely to face harassment during the Hajj process. They also said Bangladeshi expatriates living in the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia, and the Middle East would be able to perform Hajj at comparatively lower costs through Sylhet-based agencies.
HAB also published a list of licensed agencies recommended for booking, urging pilgrims to avoid unauthorized operators.
The organization added that complaints against illegal Hajj agencies are submitted to district administrations every year. Although government monitoring has reduced the activities of unauthorized agencies, HAB stressed that public awareness remains the most effective way to prevent fraud.
The press conference was attended by Mohammad Abdul Haque, Chairman of HAB Sylhet Region, Secretary Muhammad Abdul Qadir, former Chairmen Alhaj Ataur Rahman and Ziaur Rahman Khan Rezwan, former Secretary Gias Uddin Ahmed Amzad, Vice Chairman Mashhud Ahmed, Executive Council Member Israr Ahmed Raki, and other officials.
