A rally and roadside gathering were held in Golapganj on Wednesday to observe Mass Uprising Day.
The programme began with a rally and a pre-procession meeting at Chowmuhani in the municipal town in the afternoon. The event was organized by the Upazila unit of the 11-party alliance.
The meeting was presided over by the alliance's convener, Jinnur Ahmed Chowdhury, and moderated by its secretary, Habibullah Dastagir. Maulana Lokman Ahmed, a member of the executive council of the Sylhet District unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, attended the event as the chief guest.
Among those who addressed the gathering were Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Jinnur Ahmed Chowdhury, Municipal Jamaat Ameer Rehan Uddin Raihan, Municipal Jamaat Secretary Kazi Shahidur Rahman, Assistant Secretary Ehteshamul Haque Zakaria, Municipal Jamaat leader Selim Ahmed, Upazila Khelafat Majlish General Secretary Abdul Malik, Sylhet District NCP Joint Convener Monchur Ahmed Chowdhury, July movement participant Jaber Ahmed, District Youth President Maulana Lokman Ahmed, Tofayel Ahmed, and Ashraf Al Mannan Lipu.
Following the meeting, participants brought out a large procession from Chowmuhani. The rally marched through the main roads of the municipal town before concluding in front of Chowmuhani Jame Mosque.
