Two men were arrested with 115 yaba tablets in Sunamganj’s Tahirpur upazila after allegedly attempting to flee when they realized that members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) were conducting an operation in the area.
RAB had received information that the two men were allegedly selling drugs from inside a semi-pucca building. When the raid began and they sensed the presence of RAB personnel, they reportedly tried to flee on foot. However, they were eventually caught.
RAB-9 arrested the two during an operation in the Balijuri area of Tahirpur Police Station at around 1:30pm on Tuesday (August 11).
The arrested men were identified as Oli Hossain, 33, son of Ashraf Uddin, and Enamul, 35, son of the late Nizam Uddin, both residents of Balijuri in Tahirpur.
RAB personnel recovered 115 yaba tablets from their possession during the operation.
RAB Media Officer and Additional Superintendent of Police KM Shahidul Islam Sohag confirmed that a case had been filed against the two under the Narcotics Control Act and that they were subsequently handed over to Tahirpur Police Station.
