Six businesses in Moulvibazar have been fined for selling expired medicines and counterfeit products, as well as failing to display price lists, in a joint operation by the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection and RAB-9.
The operation was conducted at the municipal market in Sreemangal Police Station area of Moulvibazar from around 12:15pm to 1:30pm on Tuesday (August 11).
According to RAB, fines were imposed on the owners of several businesses during the drive. Anik Pal, owner of Asha Oushadhalaya, was fined Tk 2,000; Abhindu Pal, owner of Sarada Varieties Store, Tk 2,000; Amit Lal Das Hiru, owner of Hashem Joha Cosmetics and Bag House, Tk 4,000; Ijaj, owner of Grand Taj Restaurant, Tk 5,000; and Bappi Das, owner of Bappi Enterprise, Tk 20,000.
A total of Tk 36,000 was collected in fines during the operation.
RAB Media Officer and Additional Superintendent of Police KM Shahidul Islam Sohag said such drives would continue in the public interest.
