A mobile court has fined a private hospital and a dialysis centre in Moulvibazar Sadar upazila Tk 20,000 for various irregularities.
The drive was conducted on Tuesday (August 11) afternoon under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of the district administration, Ibrahim Iqbal Chowdhury. Medical officers from the Moulvibazar Civil Surgeon’s Office also assisted in the operation.
According to officials, the drive was conducted after irregularities were found in the proper storage of medicines, management of post-operative rooms and cleanliness of autoclave (sterilisation) rooms.
The mobile court first raided Sonar Bangla Foundation, a dialysis centre located in the Dhaka Bus Stand area of Moulvibazar Sadar, and fined the facility Tk 10,000.
Later, the team inspected Al Hamra (Private) Hospital in the Old Hospital Road area. Irregularities were found in the management of its post-operative room, while the autoclave (sterilisation) room was found to be unclean. The hospital was fined another Tk 10,000.
Executive Magistrate Ibrahim Iqbal Chowdhury said the inspection found several violations, including improper storage of medicines, irregular management of post-operative rooms and poor cleanliness in sterilisation facilities.
He said the two establishments were fined a total of Tk 20,000 under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.
He added that such drives would continue regularly to protect public health and ensure proper standards and discipline at healthcare facilities.
