A patient undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital died after jumping from the hospital’s fifth floor on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred at around 8am at the hospital’s new building.
The deceased was identified as Alamgir Hossain, 28, son of Khwaja Ali of Jagannathpur in Sunamganj.
SI Anwarul Islam, in-charge of the Osmani Hospital police outpost, said Alamgir had been receiving treatment in Ward No. 33 on the fifth floor of the hospital’s new building. He had been admitted to the hospital on August 11.
On Thursday morning, he jumped through an open section beside the staircase, suffering fatal injuries at the scene.
Police later recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College for an autopsy.
