A businessman named Shahabuddin, 65, was allegedly hacked to death by unidentified assailants in the Shah Paran (R.) Mazar Road area of Sylhet.
The incident reportedly took place at around 1am on Monday (August 24) near Shahabuddin’s residence in the Islamabad area under Shah Paran (R.) Police Station.
The deceased was a resident of Bijoy Bari in Charkhai area of Beanibazar upazila, Sylhet. He had been living in the Islamabad area under Shah Paran (R.) Police Station.
Shahabuddin’s nephew, Rumel Ahmed, confirmed the incident, saying they had not yet been able to determine who killed him or the motive behind the murder.
Police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to the Sylhet morgue for autopsy.
