Violating traffic rules in Dhaka can now lead to immediate digital action, as the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has introduced an automated e-traffic enforcement system.

According to a public notice signed by Acting Commissioner Md. Sarwar on Sunday (May 3), traffic violations captured on CCTV cameras are now generating auto-notices sent directly to vehicle owners or drivers.

Once the notice is received, the concerned the person must appear before DMP headquarters or the relevant traffic division within the specified time. They can then settle the case by paying fines through banks or mobile banking under the Road Transport Act.

However, failure to respond to the notice may result in further legal action. Authorities have warned that summons or even arrest warrants can be issued through special metropolitan magistrates if the person ignores the notice.

The DMP stated that this system aims to reduce traffic congestion, modernize traffic management, and improve public services. Advanced CCTV cameras equipped with AI technology have already been installed at key intersections and traffic signals across Dhaka.

Through this system, digital prosecutions are being initiated for offenses such as violating red lights, crossing stop lines, driving on the wrong side, illegal parking, obstructing traffic, and picking up passengers in unauthorized areas.

The notice also advised citizens to avoid any unofficial financial transactions or sharing personal information related to such cases outside the official process. If any ব্যক্তি or group attempts fraud using CCTV-related cases, people are urged to contact the nearest police station or traffic division immediately.
