Five Police Officers Promoted to Additional IGP, Including Former Sylhet Commissioner

Five senior Bangladesh Police officers holding the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) have been promoted to Additional Inspector General (Additional IGP), according to a government notification.

The promoted officers have been elevated to Grade-2 posts under the National Pay Scale, 2015.

The Home Ministry’s Police-1 branch issued a notification to this effect on Sunday (August 23). Deputy Secretary Touhid Ahmed signed the notification on behalf of the President.

The five promoted officers are Sayidur Rahman, director of the Central Police Hospital; Mainul Hasan, currently serving as Additional IGP in charge of Tourist Police; Israel Howladar, commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police; Iqbal Hossain, DIG of the Special Branch; and Kamrul Ahsan, DIG at Police Headquarters.

Among them, Kamrul Ahsan is a former commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police. He served as the Sylhet Metropolitan Police commissioner from September 2014 to November 2016.

The notification said the promoted officers would submit their joining letters to the Senior Secretary of the Home Ministry through the appropriate authorities.
